This page showcases the singing of Stanford Olsen. He has a wonderful tenor voice (IMHO - disclosure: He is also a relative of the maintainers of this website). Check out some the music of Stanford Olsen and you will see why this site recommends this great singer. He is a veteran opera singer, having sung at the Metropolitan Opera Company and around the world.
Even if you are not into opera or classical music, some LDS church members may have heard Stanford Olsen sing before. He was a performer at President Gordon B. Hinckley's 90th Birthday Celebration, see Church News and Ensign (scroll down). He also performed for President Hinckley's 95th birthday music event A Celebration of Life at the Conference Center Church News. He has appeared on PBS, most recently in a Great Performances presentation of Candide He is currently a professor of voice at Florida State University (see his bio at FSU website). Still performing, be sure to attend in person if you get a chance. Available on DVD: Rossini's Semiramide as Idreno. Sondheim's Sweeney Todd, as Pirelli. Bernstein's Candide CD performances: Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Abduction from the Seraglio) as Belmonte. Budget edition. Orff's Carmina Burana (performing the ultimate swan song in Latin). Rossini's Tancredi as Argirio. |
